The boys were stand outs in the division. This is only the second time in the 15 year history of HHI that any team has won back to back gold.

The Bradas member Nathan Kara says “We are so proud to have achieved this goal of the second gold medal, representing our individual families, Identity Company, and New Zealand here at the “Olympics of Hip Hop”. Also, we are so very proud of our fellow Team NZ competitors, especially those who placed here at Finals. We, as The Bradas, can’t wait for the next venture.”

3000 dancers from 50 countries compete at the world championships.

The finals held at the Thomas and Mack Centre at the university of Nevada attracted a crowd of 10,000 enthusiastic supporters. The event was also live streamed all over the world.

Just 30 dance crews of the 265 from 50 countries across the globe made it through to finals and 3 of those are from one small NZ company IDentity Dance Company.

IDentity Dance company home of the defending ADULT world champions The Bradas also had finalists in the other 2 divisions they were entered in, in the varsity section MASQUE achieved third place in semi – finals but came 4th in finals. Also the outstanding MEGACREW that received a standing ovation came second in semis only to come 4th in finals, which was a surprise to many.

IDentity Dance Company Co-Director Joshua Cesan says We have a mission to keep Hip Hop dance authentic, but continue to push the boundaries of creativity within this.

I am so proud of ‘The Bradas’, bringing the audience to their feet each time they performed. Their work ethic and athleticism is showing throughout there routine in a phenomenal way.

I am so proud of IDCO mega crew having members that are completely new to the competition. The Mega Crew was a stand out in the competition, pushing themselves to a new level and achieving amazingly in the heats. Our varsity team MASQUE did incredibly well and in my eyes deserved to place along with our mega crew.

We feel humbled to have represented our country. We do it for the people who helped us get here, our family, friends and supporters. We look forward to continuing to create, release online material, tour, teach, perform, inspire, mentor and develop the dance community in NZ and around the globe.”

Head NZ judge Stephen Grey says, “Team NZ was exceptional. I was so proud of all 6 teams in finals, which is a record number for NZ, showcasing the depth we are fortunate to have in our country. Bringing home 3 medals including gold made for a successful championships.”
